On these pages, the BMW Coupé-Club e. V.
will show you some special cars and models of the Coupé Type E9.

In 1975, the American artist Alexander
Calder painted a 3.0 Coupè in pied colors.
Subsequently, this car (the first of the Art Cars) attended the
24-hours-race in Le Mans and was displayed during various exhibitions. Regrettably, this piece of art was of one of the last of its kind, though most significant, produced by Alexander Calder, who died in 1976. |
In 1976, Frank Stella,
another American painter, was assigned by BMW
to paint a vehicle again.
|
Frank Stella decided in favor of
a white racing Coupè which was painted with a Millimeter-pattern. Also this car became famous in the course of several art exhibitions. Equipped with a 780 PS turbo engine, it was referred to as the world's fastest piece of art. |
